What we collect

When you submit text or a URL for fact-checking, that content is stored in our database alongside the AI-generated verdicts. We store it so the results page can be shared and retrieved.

We also store a language preference in your browser's local storage to remember which language you use. This never leaves your device.

We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, or any other personal identifier. No account is required to use the tool.

What we don't collect

We do not use analytics tracking tools (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no similar services). We do not use advertising networks. We do not track your behavior across sessions.

We do not set cookies except for admin sessions (when an administrator logs into the backend dashboard). Those cookies are limited to the admin interface and are not used on the public-facing pages.

How content is stored

Text and URLs you submit are stored in a SQLite database on our server. Results are associated with a randomly generated ID (e.g. /r/9a3f...) — not with your identity.

Anyone with the link to a result page can view it. If you submit sensitive content, be aware that the result URL can be shared. We don't index result pages in search engines.

Third-party services

Submitted content is processed by Groq's AI inference API (groq.com) to generate fact-check verdicts. Groq's privacy policy governs how they handle API requests.

We also query the GDELT Project (gdeltproject.org), a free public news database, using the text of individual claims as search queries. GDELT is a public archive and does not receive personally identifiable information.

Data retention

We currently do not have an automatic deletion policy. Submitted checks remain in the database indefinitely. We may introduce data expiry in a future update.

If you want a specific submission removed, contact us and we'll delete it manually.

Your rights

Since we don't collect personal data, most standard data rights (access, rectification, deletion) apply only to the content of your submissions. If you submitted text you'd like removed, get in touch.

If you're in the EU, GDPR applies to any personal data we might collect incidentally. We believe our current setup collects none, but we take the obligation seriously.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if our practices change. The date at the top reflects the last revision. We won't send you notification emails because we don't have your email.
